Ahhhh, this refreshing moment brought to you by Mulege, Baja California South. We stumbled into this end of the road restaurant while exploring the pretty, palm filled, village of Mulege, nestled in a rocky canyon between the cactus filled desert and the beautiful Sea of Cortez. Nothing like a little beer, chips, and salsa on the beach to tide you over on the next stretch of Baja highway.
Oh, Cabo sucked. It's just one long stretch of resorts, cruise ships, and drunk tourists staggering from Cabo Wabos to the hard rock cafe, clutching their wallets from the onslaught of aggressive street salesmen peddling timeshares and "green" cigars. Go there if you must, and you must just to complete the trip, but then turn around and find yourself a nice room in Todos Santos, some 40 miles North on the Pacific Ocean. It too is a little touristy, but in a low key, mellow vibe sorta' way.
And if you want a bigger city, stay in La Paz. We stayed a couple days here and loved it. Great public waterfront, restaurants, and a good choice of hotels. Definitely not the hustle and bustle of Cabo.
