We're really getting around this summer. Went with Grandpa and Brothers to Alaska. We drove just past Atigun Pass in the Brooks range, well north of the Arctic Circle.

Another Road trip!

July/August 07

This time visited Mt Rushmore, Black Hills, The U.P. of Michigan, Ontario, Quebec and thence (is thence a word?) to Maine. Drove back through NYC and took the 70 home.

I really had no idea how beautiful the Black Hills are. We definitely need to spend some more time exploring here. There's just so much to see and do here in North America. I really don't know how we're going to see it all, but I guess we'll jut keep trying.

Canadien Rockies

Unbelievably beautiful. I just can't compose the words to adequately describe the drive over the Icefields Parkway between Jasper and Banff in Alberta, Canada.

Idaho Falls

We made a quick 3 day trip to Idaho Falls to visit some of Cassie's Cousins who have chosen to flee California. Nice town, if you're Mormon. I guess it's kind of hard to make friends if you're not in the cult.

The snake river winding grinding its Way through basalt canyons was particularly scenic. I don't really have a very good picture of it so you'll just have to go see it yourself. Oh god, in Idaho? Yeah, Idaho baby.

Quebec 2006

Drive to Cabo - Baja

Ahhhh, this refreshing moment brought to you by Mulege, Baja California South. We stumbled into this end of the road restaurant while exploring the pretty, palm filled, village of Mulege, nestled in a rocky canyon between the cactus filled desert and the beautiful Sea of Cortez. Nothing like a little beer, chips, and salsa on the beach to tide you over on the next stretch of Baja highway.


Oh, Cabo sucked. It's just one long stretch of resorts, cruise ships, and drunk tourists staggering from Cabo Wabos to the hard rock cafe, clutching their wallets from the onslaught of aggressive street salesmen peddling timeshares and "green" cigars. Go there if you must, and you must just to complete the trip, but then turn around and find yourself a nice room in Todos Santos, some 40 miles North on the Pacific Ocean. It too is a little touristy, but in a low key, mellow vibe sorta' way.

And if you want a bigger city, stay in La Paz. We stayed a couple days here and loved it. Great public waterfront, restaurants, and a good choice of hotels. Definitely not the hustle and bustle of Cabo.
